So check this out. About 9 months ago, I went to San Diego for a conference, and found out my buddy Charlie was filming for MTV’s Real World.

I just went back down for another conference, and the night I stayed there, was the same night he appeared for the first time on Real World.

I was going to run by the house and snap some photos for everyone, but my meeting didn’t get out until midnight. Instead, I decided just to attach a photo we took Freshman year last year.

Everyone should go to the MTV Real World home page and read up on Charlie aka, “The New Guy.”

Keep an eye out for him in the future, now he’s off writing his own screen play and trying to pitch it to major movie producers.

On a separate note, while in San Diego I got into a debate with a group of people (all much older than I) about “young adults.” I don’t understand why, but for some reason, when I get into discussions with adults
about people in our generation, they always get very riled up. Hot topics of course are things such as piercings, colored hair, tattoos, you know, all the normal stuff we do today that wasn’t done years ago.
Well for some reason, they always take their angst out on me, like its my fault that someone decides to die their hair green. Of course, it probably doesn’t help when I tort back saying that just because someone is
old, doesn’t mean they’ve automatically earned my respect.

I’ve included a couple pictures from my hotel in San Diego, one from the outside, and one from my hotel room. As you can see, I had quite the view. Unfortunately, it wasn’t exactly a sunny day, so my perch above the pool proved unsuccessful.

Lasltly, here is a shot of my cousin Greg and I at the conference in San Diego. Among about 50 other things, Greg is the one responsible for this entire web site, or the fact you’re even reading this right now (if anyone actually does read this?).

Sorry ladies, he’s taken. To see a photo of his wedding see my blog on April 29th titled “4 states in one week” under the archive section.

I spent this weekend in my much beloved city, New York, coordinating the photo shoot for our next issue. In the next year, my buddy Mike (originally from Brooklyn) and I are planning to move to Manhattan. As crazy as it may seem, New York City feels almost as home to me as Oregon, despite Oregon being a few miles shy of the middle of nowhere.

The first night I went out into Times Square. I love just walking around, you never know what you might find. That night, I found myself on SportsCenter for a halftime shot of the NBA Playoffs. This guy blew a whistle and yelled, “I need a crowd!” and people rushed to be on TV.

That night I stayed at the Best Western on 38th and 10th. I was pretty excited about the deal I got, which I quickly figured out the reasoning when I got there. The hotel was adjacent to a horse carriage maintenance facility (read: poop duty) and a Cab repair shop.

At about 3 am in the morning they were still tearing apart cabs. I took the following picture at 3 am, with them still hard at work.

Bright and early the next morning we commenced with the photo shoot. The person who will be our next cover story (you’ll just have to wait) rolled up in a limo, which I of course took a picture of.

While it was a perfectly sunny day, this apparently makes for a poor photography setting due to the shadows. I learn something new every day. I think it went well, despite us constantly scrambling for the next piece of shade. I’ve included both a photo for your enjoyment.

After a long day on the set, I decided to go for a run along the West bank of Manhattan island at sunset. I took an awesome picture that you can see below.

On Sunday I flew back from New York back to Oregon. However, last but not least, is the picture of a carry on dog someone brought on the plane. My battery was dying so the flash didn’t work, but if you look closely, you’ll see a dog zipped up in a bag that was stowed under the seat.
